The Bernal Hill Players is an adventurous chamber music group from San Francisco whose three core members play clarinet, flute, voice, piano and percussion. Their fascinatingly diverse repertoire includes European classics, Latin American favorites, and newly commissioned pieces by Californian and Mexican composers.
The Bernal Hill Players was formed in 2008 by Bernal Hill residents Jennifer Peringer, Martha Rodríguez-Salazar, and Leah diTullio. Since then they have been playing concerts throughout the Bay Area and Mexico City, and have commissioned several pieces by Bay Area composers for a project about the neighborhoods of San Francisco, called “San Francisco: In and About the City”. These pieces are featured in a CD due out in February 2012.
They are currently commissioning pieces about neighborhoods of Mexico City by Mexican composers.
Rave Reviews
"Perhaps most stunning was how seamlessly Bernal Hill Players played together...I was profoundly grateful that this music was being made in the neighborhood"
